Property Benevolent Funds at 2008 BCSC Showcase

NEWS RELEASE

Michael Green of BCSC and Chris Wall of LionHeartThe Property Benevolent Funds (PBF) alliance exhibited at the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Annual Showcase, held at Arena and Convention Centre in Liverpool in November.  The Showcase provided an excellent opportunity for PBF to raise awareness amongst approximately 3,000 key players from the retail property industry over an intensive three days, highlighting the many levels of support the charities can provide in this difficult market.

PBF was established in 2007 as a joint venture by five benevolent funds - the Architects Benevolent Society, the Benevolent Fund of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Bfime (Benevolent Fund of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers), IET Connect (Institution of Engineering and Technology Benevolent Fund) and LionHeart - to raise awareness of the help that they are able to provide to members (and the dependants of members) engaged in the property and construction industries who experience difficulties including bereavement, accident, ill-health, disability, the separation of families or problems in retirement.  PBF member charities provide help through grants and loans, advice, information and counselling, and in some cases through the provision of residential care and sheltered housing. There are potentially around half a million members and their families from birth to over 100 years of age who could benefit from the services provided.

A prize draw was held by PBF during the conference. Congratulations to  Mick Pullen, AEJ Management (Car Park and Facilities Management), South Croydon, Surrey on winning a magnum of champagne.

Property Benevolent Funds thank BCSC for their support at the 2008 Showcase, specifically Chief Executive Michael Green and Event Organiser Scarlett Hancock for all their help and advice.
