Bumper summer of fundraising for LionHeart

LionHeart has received thousands of pounds towards its work following the conclusion of two major summer fundraisers that involved surveyors all over the UK – quite literally!
We’ve received a share of more than £5,000 raised by a 15-strong team of property professionals who conquered their Three Peaks Challenge within 24 hours at the end of June.
And final funds are also in after the month-long 50 Firm and Faculty Foot Challenge which took place throughout June, involving more than 70 surveyors plus assorted children and dogs! Total funds including match funding from some participants’ firms and Gift Aid totalled close to £10,000, with 'thank you' certificates now being sent out.
The Three Peaks Challenge was in support of LionHeart and the Alzheimer’s Society, with each charity receiving around £2,500 after sponsoring firm Pick Everard made a kind donation to round the total up to £5,000.
Captained by London Matrics vice-chair Jack Footer, the other team members to take on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon were Katie Green, Jack Sheehy, Simran Singh Ajayi, Kayleb Meierdirk, Jakob Howe, Freddie Compson, Emily Wickenden, Frankie Bromwich, Bianca Howl, Leah Cummins, Danny Waters, Choolwe Laurens, Hamish Loudon and Seraphina Slack (pictured here with their LionHeart banner!)
Meanwhile, the 50 Firm and Faculty Foot Challenge – the latest annual summer fundraiser organised for LionHeart by SDL Surveying and their head of academy Adrian Drummond FRICS – aimed to get at least 50 surveyors or surveying students to sign up to complete at least 50km on foot throughout June, each raising a minimum £50 for LionHeart. In fact, more than 70 participants covered a few thousand kilometres between them with fundraising totalling almost £10,000 – despite the four-week challenge being book-ended by heavy rainstorms and the start of the summer heatwaves…
Lucy Wright, LionHeart’s corporate partnerships and fundraising executive, said: “We are so grateful to Adrian and the wider team at SDL Surveying for all the work that goes in to organising this now-yearly fundraiser; and it goes without saying that we appreciate all those who signed up to take part and so diligently got their daily steps in despite everything the weather threw at them!
“We often say that at the very core of LionHeart as a charity is a strong sense of it being by surveyors, for surveyors, and this challenge encapsulated that perfectly with it involving people’s young kids and lots of happy dogs!
“Every mile covered and every pound raised really does help us to keep delivering the best support we can for surveyors in need, whatever challenges they might be facing.”
Faye Smith, our supporter engagement and fundraising manager, added: “It has been a bumper summer of fundraising for LionHeart and we feel so fortunate to have so many people who are prepared to go the extra mile (quite literally!) to support us as their professional charity, whether that’s scaling Britain's highest peaks like the Three Peaks team or clocking up the miles on pavements and trails.
“Thanks to you we are continuing to make a difference when people really need somewhere to turn and we are so grateful for this ongoing support from the surveying community that keeps us helping their own.
“Summer may be almost over but there are still plenty of ways you can keep supporting LionHeart… we are excited to have the first people in training for events through our new Run For Charity initiative, so take a look if you’re inspired to take on your own challenge for us!”
