Peaks and miles for LionHeart - summer fundraisers get stuck in

Intrepid fundraisers will be scaling new heights for LionHeart in June - tackling mountains and miles in support of their professional charity.
A 15-strong team of property professionals, backed by Pick Everard, have been training to take on the Three Peaks Challenge within 24 hours over the weekend of June 20-21. Funds raised from their attempt on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon will be shared between LionHeart and Alzheimer’s Society.
Captained by Jack Footer, the other team members are Katie Green, Jack Sheehy, Simran Singh Ajayi, Kayleb Meierdirk, Jakob Howe, Freddie Compson, Emily Wickenden, Frankie Bromwich, Bianca Howl, Leah Cummins, Danny Waters, Choolwe Laurens, Hamish Loudon and Seraphina Slack.
Jack, an assistant cost manager and RICS London Matrics committee member, (pictured above training with some of the team) said: “We’re very excited to take on this challenge to raise money for these fantastic charities. Our aim is to raise £5000 in total and push the boundaries of what's possible as an early career surveyor.”

On the same weekend, LionHeart ambassador Jordanne Dunn (pictured left) will also be taking on the ‘Welsh 3000s’.
The challenge involves climbing all 15 peaks over 3,000ft in Snowdonia in 24 hours - around 30 miles and 4,000m of ascent in a single continuous hike.
Explaining her motivation for supporting LionHeart in this way, Jordanne explained: “LionHeart has helped thousands of surveyors and their families, including myself. During some of the most difficult times of my life, LionHeart provided invaluable support and services to get me back on my feet, and I have been proud to call myself an ambassador of theirs for over 6 years now.
“Despite their link to the RICS, LionHeart is independently funded and relies heavily on donations to continue their work. Everyone experiences hard times, and in the current climate of dire mental health issues and outcomes, resources like those that LionHeart provide all go toward ensuring everyone gets help as fast as they can.”
Not content with his Three Peaks assault, Jack Footer is also one of five people in early training to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon for LionHeart in October. Fellow London Matrics members Grace Conisbee, Theo Till, Annabel Huffer and Julius Carter will also be taking on the 13-mile route through four of London’s eight Royal Parks and past many world-famous landmarks, raising money for LionHeart.
The event is just one that LionHeart supporters can secure discounted entry to under our new Run for Charity membership.
And finally, on June 1st, the annual summer fundraiser organised by SDL Surveying and their academy lead Adrian Drummond FRICS got underway. This year, 65 surveyors and students across the industry are taking part in the 50 Firm & Faculty Foot Challenge with the simple rules: run or walk 50km and raise £50 throughout June.
In the first week alone, the participants notched up 570km and have already raised more than £2,000 between them (see some pictures of the first week's activity in the video below!) We're looking forward to following their progress throughout the month.
Faye Smith, LionHeart’s supporter engagement and fundraising manager, said: “We feel so fortunate to have so many people who are prepared to - quite literally - go the extra mile to support LionHeart as their professional charity. We wish them all the best, whether they’re running, walking or climbing on our behalf!
“In the week that we have published our latest annual Impact Report, it’s worth recognising the fact that everything we do to support the surveying community is actually only possible with the support of the surveying community in turn. So a huge thank you to everyone who is undertaking fundraising activities, and to all those who are making donations too - thanks to you we are continuing to make a difference when people really need somewhere to turn.”
