LionHeart taking part in live event on workplace stress and burnout

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week next week, LionHeart will be taking part in a live event with workplace stress and burnout as its focus.
‘Work Stress & Burnout: What Next?’ will be held at RICS headquarters in Great George Street, London, in partnership with AbilityRE and RICS.
Our support services manager Bena Kansara and ambassador Derek Carter will be among the line-up of speakers at what promises to be a thought-provoking evening on May 15th.
Topics for discussion include:
- What are the causes and impacts of stress at work - and burnout?
- Why, despite greater awareness and increased corporate initiatives, are we still struggling with our mental health?
- What simple strategies can people take away to support their mental health and wellbeing better?
There will be a short introductory keynote at 5pm, followed by a panel discussion and mental health expert advising on how people can build their own ‘toolkit’ of supporting strategies - which will be different for everyone.
There will be an opportunity for further discussion and networking from 6-7pm.
Bena Kansara, support services manager, said: “We’re really looking forward to being part of this event with our friends from AbilityRE and RICS. While we have made massive strides as a society - especially in the workplace - in acknowledging the impact that poor mental health and stress can have, it is a fact that people are still struggling with this.
“Last year, more than 1 in 10 of the calls we received on the LionHeart helpline were sparked by stress or mental ill health. My support officers and counsellors are talking to surveyors about the impact this has on their lives at work and at home on a daily basis.
“Events like this one during Mental Health Awareness Week have such an important role to play in getting people to think about the causes of stress and its effects, signs and symptoms. Most important of all it can help people understand better not only what they can do to help themselves, but what external sources of professional support they can tap into, including all the services we offer at LionHeart.”
